Road or not a road?

Conover describes how roads are not necessarily built to move people from one place to another, in fact in northern Central America roads may not be intentionally for use, they may be built to symbolize a culture. Depending on a culture a road may have been built for rulers in which they symbolized dominance over a certain tribe. Roads were built as pathways, some which were connected to the underworld or others for spirits to travel through. Roads were also built intended to lead people to ceremonial destinations. Whether it be a road or a pathway it is certain that every form of path leads to a destination unknown.
